How is Off-The-Job calculated? (legacy)

Overview

Off-The-Job (OTJ) training percentage is calculated based on the total contracted hours of the apprenticeship and the actual OTJ hours logged. This metric helps track compliance with apprenticeship requirements.

Key Points

  • Total Contracted Hours should represent the entire apprenticeship duration, not weekly hours.
  • To calculate total contracted hours:
Weekly working hours × Number of weeks in the apprenticeship

Formula for OTJ Percentage

(Actual Off-the-job Hours ÷ Total Contracted Hours) x 100

  • Actual OTJ % shows what percentage of total contracted hours have been logged as off-the-job.
  • The OTJ % should reach 20% once all target OTJ hours are completed.

Alternative Setup

If you prefer OTJ % to reach 100% instead of 20%:

  • Enter Target OTJ Hours into the Total Contracted Hours field.
  • Change Target OTJ % to 100%.

Troubleshooting

IssueSolution
OTJ % looks incorrectCheck that total contracted hours are calculated for the full apprenticeship duration, not weekly hours.
Target not aligningAdjust settings if you want OTJ % to reflect 100% completion rather than 20%.
