Setting Learning Aims and Units

Overview

Learning Aims and Units define the structure of a learner’s qualification. Setting these correctly ensures that learners are working toward the right objectives and units within their program. This process can be done individually for each learner or in bulk using Framework Templates.


Who Can Use This Feature?

This feature can be used by the following user roles:

  • Centre Manager
  • User Manager (with permission)
  • Assessors (with permission)
  • Internal Verifiers (with permission)

Permissions

  • Can manage learner accounts.
  • Can edit Learning Aim Start Date and Anticipated Completion Date 

Centre Setting
“Deny Assessors Access to Setting Learner Details (Including Learning Aims)”
 If enabled, assessors will be denied access to setting learner details (including learning aims).

Steps to Set Learning Aims

  1. Navigate to the Learner’s Portfolio.
  2. Click the Learning Aims tab
    (Assessors: click the Learning Aims icon in the Manage tab).
  3. Click Select Learning Aim.
  4. Locate the learning aims by scrolling or using the Search Box.
  5. Tick the checkboxes for the aims to be added.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Save.

Steps to Set Units

Once learning aims have been added:

  1. Click the Unit Selection tab.
  2. Use the drop-down box to save units for a specific Learning Aim (optional).
  3. Tick the checkboxes for the units you want to select.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Repeat steps 3–4 for each learning aim.
    (When you click Save, the system will cycle through all assigned learning aims.)

ℹ️Important Notes

  • Unsaved Units: Some units may appear selected but will not show in the learner’s portfolio until you click Save.
  • Saved Units: Displayed in bold.
  • Bulk Assignment: Learning Aims and Units can also be assigned in bulk using Framework Templates.
  • Assessors will not see the Learning Aims icon if the Centre Setting mentioned above is enabled.
