Overview
Internal Quality Assurers (IQAs) can resubmit assessments when sampled criteria or assessment decisions require the Assessor to review or amend their work. This supports quality assurance processes and ensures assessment decisions meet your Centre’s standards.

How to Resubmit an Assessment
- Open the Assessment from the learner’s portfolio.
- Tick the sampled criteria you are reviewing.
- Enter Feedback and Comments to the Assessor.
- Scroll to the Assessment Decision section.
- Select Resubmit.
- Select the unit(s) you want to resubmit the assessment against.
- If any selected units are already signed off, choose one of the following:
- Unlock Unit — Unlocks the Unit Summary so the Assessor can amend evidence or decisions.
- Resubmit Unit — Resubmits the Unit Summary and applies an [RJ] reference, indicating the unit has been rejected.
- Sign the assessment.
- Click Save & Quit.
Re‑Submission Options Explained
- Unlock Unit – Allows the Assessor to amend evidence or decisions where the unit was previously signed off.
- Resubmit Unit – Marks the Unit Summary with [RJ] and requires the Assessor to complete corrective work.
Assessors will receive new tasks linked to the resubmitted Assessment or unlocked Unit Summary.
Understanding “.1 Assessments”
When a learner submits an assessment covering multiple units, and the IQA rejects criteria from only one unit, the system generates a .1 assessment. This ensures only the affected unit is resent while preserving progress on other units.
When a .1 Assessment Is Generated
- The assessment includes criteria from more than one unit, and
- The IQA rejects criteria for only one of those units
Example: An assessment includes criteria from Unit 1 and Unit 2. If the IQA rejects Unit 2 only → a .1 assessment is created.
How Unit Selection Affects the .1 Assessment
- ✔️ Ticking only one unit
The assessment is resubmitted only for that unit → a .1 assessment is created. - ✔️ Ticking both units
The entire assessment is resubmitted → No .1 assessment is generated.
Example Workflow
- Learner submits an assessment covering Unit 1 and Unit 2.
- IQA rejects criteria for Unit 2 only.
- Tutor selects:
- Unit 1 only → Creates a .1 assessment.
- Unit 1 + Unit 2 → No .1 assessment is created.
Tips & Notes
- Use feedback comments to clearly communicate why a resubmission is required.
- Signed‑off units always require an Unlock or Resubmit decision before proceeding.
- The [RJ] marker helps track rejected units during sampling.
