On Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, we’ll be rolling out a series of enhancements to Eportfolio and the Learning Journal aimed at improving usability, accuracy, and the overall experience for both learners and assessors.

Checking assessment evidence with Turnitin

  User Roles

This feature can be used by the following user roles:

  • Assessor
  • Learner

The Turnitin checker can be used within an Assessment or the Assessment Evidence page.

Uploaded evidence can be sent to Turnitin using the steps below:

  1. Access a learner's portfolio
  2. Open the Assessment or Assessment Evidence page
  3. Scroll down to the Evidence files
  4. Click Turnitin Checker - The button will change to Awaiting results
  5. Once completed, Awaiting results will change to Similarity score: %
  6. Click Similarity score: % to be taken to Turnitin and check the results

At the moment, only PDFs and Word documents can be sent to Turnitin and the check usually takes around 1 day.

If the check fails 3 times the user will be provided with an warning message and a reason.
