Check Assessment Evidence for Similarity with Turnitin in Onefile Eportfolio

Overview

Turnitin can be used within Onefile Eportfolio to check uploaded evidence for similarity, helping to support academic integrity. The check is available directly from the Assessment and Assessment Evidence pages.

User Roles

This feature can be used by:

  • Assessor
  • Learner

Requirements

  • An active Turnitin subscription is required to enable and use this feature.
  • Turnitin availability depends on your Centre's configuration (not all Centres enable it).
  • Only PDF and Word documents can be checked.

Steps to Send Evidence to Turnitin

  1. Access the learner's Portfolio.
  2. Open either the Assessment or Assessment Evidence page.
  3. Scroll down to the Evidence files section.
  4. Click Turnitin Checker. The button will update to Awaiting results.
  5. Once the check is complete, the button updates to show Similarity score: %.
  6. Click the Similarity score: % to open the report in Turnitin and review the results.

⚠️ Important: A Turnitin check typically takes around 1 day to complete. If a check fails three times, you'll receive a warning message with the reason for the failure.

Tips & Notes

  • Make sure files are correctly formatted before submission, and remember that only PDF and Word documents can be checked.
  • If a score does not appear within 24 hours, retry the check or contact your Centre Manager.
  • Turnitin availability depends on your Centre's configuration and an active subscription.
