Create metric groups

Overview

Metric Groups allow Admin users to organise metrics by Learning Aims within Onefile Engage. Each Learning Aim can only belong to one Metric Group, ensuring that risk calculations and machine‑learning models use the correct metric configuration.

User Roles

This feature can be used by:

  • Admin

Steps

How to Create a Metric Group

  1. Click Metrics in the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Click Create metric group.
  3. Enter the name of the Metric Group.
  4. Select the relevant Learning Aim(s) to include.
  5. Click Create metric group.

Important: Each learning aim can only be assigned to a single Metric Group.

Additional Options

Marking a Metric as Critical

You can define a metric as Critical. If a learner meets the highest banding (e.g., High for 3‑band metrics or Very High for 5‑band metrics), the learner will automatically be marked as High Risk, regardless of their overall calculated risk percentage.

Marking as OTJ

Admin users can also choose whether Off-The-Job (OTJ) should be included in the machine learning model used within Metric Groups.

Tips & Notes

  • Critical metrics override the calculated overall risk value.
  • Ensure Learning Aims are assigned correctly before saving, as each aim can only belong to one group.
  • Metric Group settings influence both risk scoring and machine‑learning predictions.
