Overview
Grades represent the values that can be selected when grading assessments. Individual grades can be grouped together into a Grade Range, which is what assessors see in the drop‑down list when selecting a grade.
Creating Grades
Grades are the selectable options shown when grading a learner’s assessment. To create a grade, follow the steps below:
- Click Quality in the navigation menu.
- Click Grading.
- Click Create Grade.
- Enter the Reference (e.g. P).
- Enter the Description (e.g. Pass).
- Repeat the steps above to create any additional grades required.
Grade Ranges
After creating grades, you can group them into Grade Ranges. This lets you control which grades appear when assessors grade assessments.
- Click Grade Ranges.
- Click Create Grade Ranges.
- Enter the Title.
- Select the grades to include in the range.
- Adjust the order using the Up and Down arrows.
- Click Save.
Grading by Assessment Method
Once at least one Grade Range exists, you can configure which Assessment Methods require grading.
- Click the Assessment Grading tab.
- Click Assign Grade Range in the “Assessment Grading by Method” section.
- Select the Method.
- Select the Grade Range.
- Tick if the grade should be mandatory.
- Click Save.
Grading by Class Assessment Method
If you need more control, you can assign Grade Ranges to methods for specific Classes. This makes the Grade Range available for assessments of that method, but only for learners assigned to that Class.
- Click the Assessment Grading tab.
- Click Assign Grade Range in the “Assessment Grading by Class Method” section.
- Select the Class.
- Select the Method.
- Select the Grade Range.
- Tick if the grade should be mandatory.
- Click Save.
After Assigning a Grade Range
- A new Grade section will appear at the bottom of the assessment.
- Only the Assessor can set a grade.
- The grade becomes visible to the learner once the assessment is signed.
- If the grade is mandatory, the assessor cannot sign the assessment until a grade is selected.
